Dyeing clothes

There is a side-quest to learn dyeing in Vesper Bay (near the Waking Sands). Once you have done that you can find an item of gear that can be dyed (see the circle in the top RH corner of the clothing icon), RH-click on the item, and select “Dye”. You can then apply the appropriate dye (if you have it in your inventory).

Glamour

Glamour (AKA Glam) is what is called Transmogrification in WoW. Basically you can make a piece of gear look like something else.

If you go to an inn, and use the Glamour Dresser, you can store items in your dresser for casting Glamour later. It can store 400 items so that is a way of keeping items that you might want to use later. Be warned that materia is removed from your item when you move it to the dresser, however dyes stay. You may want to “Remove Materia” before putting the item into the dresser. It costs one Glamour Prism as a reagent for putting the item into the dresser. You can remove items later at no cost.

Glamour prisms can be obtained from:

Once you have items in your dresser you can make up to 15 “glamour plates” which are sets of gear. Click on one of the set buttons, and then choose an appropriate item from the dresser to go into that set. If an X appears on the icon it means that the glamour can’t be applied to your current job.

Now that you have a plate set up, you can open your character screen (C), click the Glamour Plate button and choose one of your glamour sets.

Barber

There is a side-quest to unlock the barber (starts in Limsa Lominsa). Once you have helped the barber get his tools back then you can be summoned in your private room, accessible from any inn.
